Aviation authorities responded within minutes,  grounding outbound flights and diverting inbound ones to airports in  Ningbo and Wuxi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo4.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3967\" title=\"china_ufo4\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo4-280x300.jpg?resize=280%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo4.jpg?resize=280%2C300&amp;ssl=1 280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo4.jpg?resize=392%2C420&amp;ssl=1 392w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo4.jpg?w=450&amp;ssl=1 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>Xiaoshan Airport was forced to cease operations and eighteen flights were affected. Though normal operations resumed an hour  later, the incident captured the attention of the Chinese media and  sparked a firestorm of speculation on the UFO&#8217;s identity.<\/p>\n<p>Some have speculated that the brightly illuminated &#8220;vehicle&#8221; t is a hidden U.S. bomber flying toward China. Anothers suggest that it is Russian or even an exploratory craft piloted by aliens from <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptopia.us\/site\/category\/monsters\/out-of-this-world\/\" target=\"_\">OUT OF THIS WORLD<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fueling speculations further, Hangzhou residents released photos, taken  in the afternoon before the delays, of a hovering object bathed in  golden light and exhibiting a comet-like tail. Less than an hour before  the Xiaoshan airport shut down, residents said they also saw a flying  object emitting red and and white beams of light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo6.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3975\" title=\"china_ufo6\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo6-300x144.jpg?resize=300%2C144\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo6.jpg?resize=300%2C144&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo6.jpg?w=408&amp;ssl=1 408w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Numerous Hangzhou residents snapped photos of this mysterious object. One of the photographers, Ma Shijun, claims that he first saw the UFO while he was taking a nighttime stroll with his wife:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I felt a beam of light over my head. Looking up, I saw a streak of  bright, white light flying across the sky, so I picked up the camera and  took the photo. The time was 8:26 p.m. However, whether the object was a  plane, or whether it was Xiaoshan Airport&#8217;s UFO, I don&#8217;t have a clear  answer.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo5.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3973\" title=\"china_ufo5\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo5-300x144.jpg?resize=300%2C144\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo5.jpg?resize=300%2C144&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cryptopia.us\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/china_ufo5.jpg?w=406&amp;ssl=1 406w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>For now, the UFO&#8217;s identity remains shrouded in mystery. A spokesman  from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) confirmed to ABC  News that the matter is under investigation. He declined to disclose  further details.<\/p>\n<p>The director  of the Shanghai UFO Investigative Research Center, Lou  Jinhong, traveled to Hangzhou to study the phenomenon:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We have several places to visit on our agenda, including the Xiaoshan  Airport and the CAAC East China Regional Administration,&#8221; t &#8220;I cannot offer an opinion on this case, because we have not yet  collected all the relevant documents and data.
